With brother Frank, Charles Walter Matheson built the Matheson Six between 1903 and 1913. In 1921, after spending a year as New York sales representative for Dodge Brothers, Matheson became vice president of that company. Three years later he became vice president and sales director for General Motors’ Oakland Motor Car Company. After resigning his post with General Motors, Matheson assumed a similar position with Kelvinator. In 1928 he moved on to Chrysler Corporation, becoming vice president in charge of sales. Ten years later Matheson left Chrysler to become president and general manager of Reo Motor Car Company, a position he held until his death.
